A short note about the ABRSM curriculum.  This is a valuable monitor, helping pupils gauge their musical development in a clear and structured way.   Three pieces from different musical periods are chosen, which provide a broad exposure to musical styles.   Essential aural training, sight reading skills and technical work are also included in the course of study.  There is no need to sit the actual exam itself however they do provide a good marker of progress.

Musical theory is also taught alongside practical piano studies from the outset.  Covering the theoretical syllabus through the early practical grades I - IV ensures a smooth transition to the more advanced grades VI - VIII.

ABRSM provides both classical and jazz options.
